Julie Jones is a financial planner and handles portfolio administration in the Atlanta branch of Southport Capital. She joined the firm in 2016, coming from Oppenheimer & Co where she was a senior client services associate for five years. She began her financial career in 1979 at Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb as a registered sales assistant. Prior to joining Oppenheimer, she employed her knowledge and skill as a certified consultant group analyst at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, working with high-net worth clients. A native Californian, Julie attended Grossmont College and San Diego State where she obtained her associate’s degree in radio and television production.
After relocating to the Atlanta area, Julie continued her education at Kennesaw State University where she studied secondary math and science education. She holds her General Securities Representative License (Series 7), the Uniform Securities Agent State Exam (Series 63), Uniform Securities Agent State Law Exam (Series 66), Insurance/Annuity License and Variable Annuity Licenses. She is currently enrolled in a study program working toward a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designation.
Julie’s been married 22 years and has two adult sons. She unwinds in the evenings and weekends by either riding motorcycles with her husband and friends, or by creating whimsical, yet functional pottery that can be found in galleries in Georgia and Kentucky. She also is active in her church and church choir.
