Penny Flippen joined Southport Capital in 2012 and brings over two decades of financial service experience to the team. Penny attended UNC-Greensboro and Surry Community College, earning a degree in accounting. Prior to joining Southport, she worked with an independent representative of H.D. Vest Investment Services. Penny started her career performing administrative duties and within a couple of years, she became a licensed investment representative.

Before her start in financial services, Penny prepared taxes for H&R Block and also worked as a bookkeeper for small businesses in the Mount Airy area. She currently resides in Mount Airy, North Carolina with her husband, Ray. They have two children and two grandchildren. Outside of work, Penny enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and riding motorcycles.
